MORE THAN 400,000 Americans have lost their lives to COVID-19.

Our grandparents, our fathers and mothers, our sisters and brothers, our neighbors and friends. But the disease alone did not kill them. We demand accountability and reform. We demand that federal and state governments address the systemic weaknesses in our society exposed by the pandemic. Join us in the push for a National Commission on the Pandemic to investigate every aspect of this profound failure of leadership.

We’re calling for a national commission to investigate the pandemic response. SIGN OUR PETITION TO JOIN THE FIGHT FOR THE LIVING:

COVID-19 WILL KILL MORE THAN 600,000 AMERICANS.

WE MUST INVESTIGATE WHAT WENT WRONG AND WHY.

After the terror attacks on September 11th, 2001, an independent, bipartisan commission created by congressional legislation to comprehensively review including preparedness for and the immediate response to the attacks. The commission was also mandated to provide recommendations designed to guard against future attacks, and after two years of investigations, interviews and public hearings conducted with $15 million in funding, the commission made a series of recommendations including for changes in how the federal government organizes itself around the threat of terrorism. While not every recommendation of the Commission improved matters, it was widely considered a serious and in depth review of the attacks that killed nearly 3,000 Americans.

WE MUST DESIGN AND IMPLEMENT SUBSTANTIAL CHANGES BEFORE THE NEXT PUBLIC HEALTH CRISIS.

So far more than 400,000 Americans have lost their lives to COVID-19. More than 12 million have been infected. And we know there are economic and racial disparities: for instance, one in every 1,000 Black Americans have died. The dead include our grandparents, our parents, our children, our siblings, our neighbors, and our friends.

We must make sure that none of these people are forgotten. But we also owe it to them to hold the government to account. to ask hard questions about the way public health works in the United States. The way we fund testing, hospitals. The way we handle vaccinations in the face of a pandemic. The way federal, state and local officials coordinate on pandemic response. COVID-19 is a historic disaster- but it is certainly not the last pandemic we will face as a nation.

MARCH FOR THE DEAD:

FIGHT FOR THE LIVING

The deep sorrow we feel from our family and friends dying alone, knowing that many of their deaths could have been prevented - it's difficult to live with. March for the Dead, Vote for the Living is our way of transforming our sadness and anger into action.
